Playing & Coaching Pathways
For aspiring players, Uni Norths Owls Rugby Club is a proven pathway for men and women’s player who wish to get selected in the following teams in the ACT;
• Brumbies Rugby
• ACT Colts
• Brumbies Women’s and Men’s 7’s
• Super W
• Canberra Vikings/NRC
• University of Canberra Women’s 7’s
• Australian Universities 7’s & 15’s
The Owls have had the likes of Ben Alexander & Georgia O’Neill gain selection in these sides and have gone onto represent the Wallabies & Wallaroos.
Additionally, the Owls also offers a great coaching pathway for those with ambitions to coach at either an amateur or professional level. Past 1st Grade coaches Laurie Fisher (Brumbies Rugby & Gloucester Rugby) & Daniel Hooper (Brumbies Academy & Canberra Vikings) have gone on to coach at a higher level since coaching at the club. There have been many others who have coached at the Owls across the grades leading them to coaching junior and senior representatives sides.
The Owls have several facilities that can be utilised by club members during, pre or post season.
ANU North Oval comes with two full size rugby fields, 3 spacious change rooms, a medical room, referee's room and a pavilion with two functions room plus a bar/kitchenette making it
perfect for competition days, gala days and sporting events or functions. The pavilion's balcony is the perfect vantage point for viewing the rugby. This can be hired by the club or by the public.
A short stroll from ANU North Oval is the Owls Gym. This is located at our club sponsor The RUC. The gym has all your needs to suit our rugby program with rugby specific programs designed by our strength and condition coach. Players can access the gym 24/7.
Being aligned to two Universities, the Owls often use both the University of Canberra and ANU for pre season and in season training.
Pre Season training is regularly held at the University of Canberra, Oval Number 4 on Tuesday and Thursday nights starting at 6pm.
During the season, the Owls will train at ANU North Oval on a Tuesday and Thursday night starting from 6pm.
The Owls extensive alumni can be found throughout the whole of Australia, especially Canberra and overseas therefore creating a wide spread network with plenty of career opportunities.

Given the clubs player base is largely university students, through the club’s alumni, we can assist in pointing you in the right direction for your career after university.
