In 2020 the Owls are continuing the new tradition of a shared club captaincy between a male and female senior club member. The two captains elected by the Owls playing group this year to lead the club are Iris Verebalavu and Findlay Doyle.
Iris plays in the front row on both sides of the scrum and is coming into her 4th with the Owls. She has won premierships with the Owls Women’s XV and has received representative honours with the Brumbies in the Super W Competition. She says that she is excited to take the reigns at a club that she loves.
“Being club captain is a huge honour for me, I’ve always had a big heart for the club and it’s people. Never have I come across such a club that makes you feel like family, until I came to Owls, a club that shares not only a love for the game but encourages the importance of what it means to better yourself an individual player and a team mate to others. I hope as club captain I can continue to build on the values that Owls have worked so hard to uphold and make more memories and friendships in the years to come.”
Joining Iris is dynamic ballplayer Findlay Doyle who is in his 5th season with the Owls. He has played over 60 games for the club winning 3rd Grade best n fairest in 2018 (legend). You can find Findlay playing halfback and five-eighth on the field and basically any other time in the gym. Findlay continues a family tradition of service to the club.
