Congratulations to Owls players Ben Love and Lachlan Osborne who have been named in the Junior Wallabies training squad. Both Ben and Lachlan starred for the Brumbies in the most recent U19’s Championships in which the ACT side finished 3rd. Ben and Lachlan were accompanied by fellow owls players Stirling Doyle, Lucas Thomson & Iggy Bonsembiante at the Championships.
For Ben, this caps off a stellar 2018 in which he was a standout play in 1st Grade which saw him win multiple player of the match honors and finish inside the top 5 for the 2018 Macdougall Medal, the award for the Best & Fairest John I Dent Cup 1st Grade player. For Lachlan, this selection this is a reward for all the hard work he has done off the footy field. Lachlan was ruled out for the 2018 season due to a shoulder reconstruction. As a result of his determination and strict rehabilitation program, Lachlan was able to fully recover and pull on the boots for the Owls Colts side in there Semi Final loss to Gungahlin.
Selection in this training squad is the first chance for these local products to stake their claim for a possible spot in the Aussie U20’s frame, with the Oceania U20 Championships and Junior World Cup set to go again in 2019.
Well done Ben and Lachlan, a bright future on the field awaits you both.
